American Idol Live: America votes, but America does not go

Live Music & Events

Ticket sales were way down for this year’s American Idol Live tour.  Venues were near selling out 12,000 seats last year, and now seating around 6,000.  Is america over it’s precious show?  We knew voting was down and since Simon left, the show is expected to continue it’s downward spiral, but attendance has been pretty

Zoom Handy Video Recorder created with live music in mind

Music Biz

Some musicians are still stuck on not wanting fans to record videos of their concerts.  Some (Kanye) are also stuck on not even letting fans take photos on their cell phones at their concerts.  I’m wondering how music/sporting venues as well as artists will handle this new high quality audio/video recording device that’s the size

If you have the public’s attention, for God’s sake use it!

Music Biz

Loads of celebrities piss and moan about the paparazzi and press attention that won’t leave them alone.  Okay, so if you can’t get rid of it, embrace it!  They complain about media attention, then pay for advertisements.  This makes no sense.  I was watching TMZ the other day and they had P. Diddy (if that’s

Did Rolling Stone take True Blood cover too far?

Music Biz

Of course they did, but with purpose!  In a time when magazine sales are down the tubes, everyone is talking about the new Rolling Stone cover featuring the stars of True Blood naked, perfectly posed so no direct private parts are showing.  It looks far more pornographic than a Playboy cover.  This is obviously exactly

Hanson watch movie with fans via twitter & livestream

Music Biz

Yes, this is another post involving Hanson, but this is pretty unique.  Last night they went live from a truck stop via their livestream (livestream.com) and decided they were going to watch Dumb and Dumber.  Fans were tweeting to them that they had the DVD also so they decided to all watch it at the

Ditching Hef never felt so good.

Girl Power!

Holly Madison is making a name for herself as the Bo Peep of Vegas.  Being a former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner gave her just enough name recognition to be a celebrity star of Planet Hollywood’s Peep Show.  She was one of the original stars of the E! series Girls Next Door which was the public’s

Where is Rock music on the Billboard Hot 100?

Music Biz

The only rock group in the top 20 this week come in at number 19 with Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister.”  The rest is dominated with R&B, Hip hop, and country.  Where has all the rock gone?  I know this is old news, but I keep waiting for popular rock to make a comeback on the

So, what’s killing live music?

Music Biz

When the Jonas Brothers  start canceling shows, you know something’s up.  Blogs have started to talk about the decline in live music ticket sales.  I don’t really see this happening at small venues, but arena shows are definitely in trouble.

1.  From what I’ve noticed, the most successful tours this summer were Justin Bieber and Lady

Hanson: Shout it Out tour – Storm cuts the show short

Live Music & Events

I am an avid Hanson fan (obviously) and their show at the Minnesota Zoo this week was epic.  It was raining on and off all day and we knew there was a storm blowing in.  They always play at First Avenue, but I’m not sure if they just wanted to do something different or the

Can we talk about The Runaways for a minute, please?

Girl Power!

When I saw this movie for the first time in March, I was immediately inspired by the 70’s rock fashion and hairstyles.  Of course, I was also inspired by the music and compelling story of these 5 young girls.  It made me wish I was much cooler and much younger.  The Runaways are kind of like
